ABOUT US Our Team
Glenn Middleton, CMA
|
 |
 |
Glenn started his career as a junior, but his 'do it right' attitude quickly got him promoted to 'change agent'. His first few challenges were to turn around failing divisions of a national Canadian dairy. While still in his twenties he successfully 're-engineered' many processes, methods & reports to provide management with the information required to implement positive changes.
He chose the CMA program because of both the high standards they demand and the strategic training provided. Glenn attained his CMA in 1992.
Over the years that followed Glenn continued to apply a 'do it right' attitude & continued to act as change agent. Glenn always looks for ways to get the most out of a business. Glenn spent most of his career working in manufacturing. He has worked in various other sectors including: health care, legal, transportation, construction and retail. Despite the many different sectors, many of the problems they face are common.
He has served as Controller/CFO for Corporations from $15M to $200M for over 25 years. He oversaw all key aspects of Finance & Administration including: financial reporting; managed audit, tax, business planning, budgeting and forecasting, treasury, human resources, SR&ED, and information technology. For much of his career Glenn also served as Information Technology manager in both mainframe and PC platforms. Glenn was also an active participant in operations management, logistics and assisting with sales and marketing management.
This broad range of experience has given Glenn a keen business acumen and focus on the issues that drive a business. Glenn left the employment to continue to be a 'change agent' for small to medium sized businesses. He feels there is significant need for Controllership skills in small business. His efforts continue to add significant value to his clients.

James is a highly organized career accounting professional with an extensive background in a diverse range of custom and job-lot manufacturers. He is a CMA experienced in enhancing and designing financial reporting, budgeting and planning packages. James is adept at learning new software with strong Excel skills and with excellent people and team skills.
After graduating from Wilfrid Laurier University with an Hons. BA in Economics, James started his career maintaining cost records for a heavy equipment dealer. This meant developing an understanding of all of the product in order to determine whether the records were accurate. The lesson of understanding the business behind the numbers has served James well over his career. He progressed to a career of being the senior financial person in a variety of entities with gradually increasing responsibility.
Within four years of graduating from university, James had earned his Certified Management Accountant (CMA) designation.
He has tackled a variety of challenges and opportunities throughout his career. He has successfully completed several system conversions. James was the liaison with IT and outside consultants for writing and rewriting many reports including revamping the layout of the financial statements to make them more readable. This involved a complete rewrite of the accounting structure to ensure costs and revenues were properly tracked back to the appropriate cost and revenue centres.
Through careful cash management, he was able to steer a firm thorough a year long cash crisis precipitated by the loss of a key customer without losing any sources of supply. James has implemented process improvements to reduce the growth of obsolete inventory and to improve the collectability of receivables. He has also implanted processes, procedures and documentation standards to facilitate an organized collection effort which resulted in lowering the days sales outstanding by 30 days.
James has been involved a range of custom manufacturers including printing, publishing, cabinet manufacturing and sheet metal manufacturing. His responsibilities over the years have included the finance functions as well as IT, building maintenance and renovations and fleet management. In the latter function, James managed through a bulk purchase to save $18K annually in lease costs, a savings of about 10%. He has coordinated implementing enhancements to the computer network to improve performance and reduce down time. He also spearheaded a renovation project to consolidate the finance staff and administrative support staff into a central area to make the office more efficient.
James' years of experience have developed a desire to see small to medium size firms receive a high caliber of advice to allow them to grow profitably.
